Hugyfot developped a pre-dive vacuum check system called 'HugyCheck' which enables the photograper to perform a vacuum test prior to entering the water. This test will indicate whether the housing has been closed properly, and whether the housings' O-rings are in good condition.
The HugyCheck system consists of:
- electrical vacuum pump
- one way valve (on one of the bulkheads*)
- LED pressure indicator (on the camera hotshoe)
- leakage alarm
"I've owned housings by nearly all major manufacturers, I dive nearly one week in every 2 and wouldn't put an expensive camera like the D700 in a housing unless I was sure that it didn't leak and the dome port wouldn't fall off (Yes, it's happened to me with another housing and I saw it happen to someone else a couple of weeks ago!).
The Hugycheck system confirms the housing is sealed and the pressure difference prevents the dome port from accidentally revolving without being noticed before you get in the water. The picture shows me photographing ten different computer displays during a 50m computer test."
